Notes

If you haven’t tried potatoes with mojo picón yet, what are you waiting for? This dish originates from the Canary Islands and has withstood the test of time over the centuries, maintaining its status as a popular dish that the islanders love and enjoy to this day. It’s as if potatoes and salsa mojo picón were simply made for each other!
This potato recipe is simple and easy to make. What’s more, it’s a quick meal that you can cook in no time, and you don’t need to be an expert chef. With just a few basic steps to follow, you can bring one of SPain’s much-loved culinary delights to your meal time. Enjoy it on its own or as part of a larger Mediterranean meal.

Preparing potatoes

This is the most important part of your meal prep. Get this part right, and you’re onto a winner. First, you should use small potatoes if you can. They cook faster and make ideal ingredients to this particular recipe. Make sure you leave the skins and them and let them boil with sea salt. It’s important to ensure they don’t boil for too long. If they become weak and mushy, the whole meal suffers! You want them firm but with an inner softness. An alternative method to boiling is to roast them!

How to make mojo picon

There’s no need to do that when we’ve done it for you! Mojo picón from the Tapas Sauces brings the flavors of Spain straight to your kitchen so you needn’t lift a finger. If, however, you would like to try and make your own version of the sauce, you can do so with the following steps:
  1. Roast some peppers
  2. When they are ready, peal them and throw them in a blender
  3. Add garlic, olive oil, spices, and vinegar.
  4. Blend the ingredients together.

Serving suggestions

For dishes as loved as this one, presentation matters. After all, this Spanish classic recipe is more than just about a quick and easy meal. It’s about history, heritage, and bringing people together. Make sure the potatoes are well coated in the sauce for both taste and vibrancy. You can also sprinkle some fresh parsley and other herbs on top for added tastes and colors.
It’s also worth bearing in mind that potatoes in this particular dish work well as a side dish or accompaniment to something meaty like steak, but also chiken and fish. That’s not to say you can’t enjoy these potatoes on their own because you certainly can!
